Here's a sneak peek of some of the feathered fabulousness that will be sold at the Curry Village Craft Fair and CCA Holiday Fair. More teases to come soon!

Two Craft Fairs!

Hooray! Back from a (much longer than planned) break, Bowerbird will be selling their wares at two awesome craft fairs, TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Oh Friday, December 3rd, Bowerbird will be in Yosemite Valley at the Curry Village Craft Fair for the very first time! And on Saturday, December 4th, Bowerbird returns to the CCA Holiday Craft fair in Oakland! It should be an amazing weekend!

Bowerbird will be selling our usual feather hairclips, headbands, combs, bobby pins and bottle-cap earrings. In addition, we will have adorable tiny cards, feather pins (for your scarf or hat), felted 'eggs', and these sweet little 2x2 in paintings. They depict our friend the Bowerbird in its many forms.


We also have owl friends, because who doesn't love owls?

Summer Fun!

CCA Spring Fair!

Well, we had quite a fun and satisfying day selling at the CCA Spring Fair yesterday, although it was hard trying to avoid getting sunburnt!

Pretty Penny!

Bowerbirds!

So whenever I tell people that my crafting name is 'Bowerbird Crafts,' most people don't know what a Bowerbird actually is. Imagine my delight when I watched Life yesterday, and the 'Birds' episode featured the Bowerbird! Watch a clip from the show here.



For those of you who don't know about this lovely creature, the species featured on the show is called the 'Vogelkop Bowerbird.' Bowerbirds build structures called 'Bowers' that are essentially love dens, to attract as many females as possible to mate with. The coolest thing about Bowerbirds is that they are the Designers of the bird community. They have an amazing sense of color, and collect things in the same pallet to decorate the entrance to their bower. As a collector and a designer, the Bowerbird is my perfect mascot!

Nests, in miniature

Well, I am a sucker for anything miniature. So you can image my delight when I came across miniature nests on Etsy, with eggs in them! They are the cutest things I have ever seen, and I just knew I had to use them for Bowerbird. Here is my first attempt:

ADORABLE, right?!

Unfortunately I underestimated just HOW small these tiny nests were, and this was the only button that would work without the poor things being lost in a sea of feathers. Luckily, with the help of my lovely assistants, we have figured out an adorably practical solution.

We Sold Something to a Stranger!

As a new Etsy-an, it seems as though your first sales are usually to people you know, BUT today we made a sale to a complete stranger from Raleigh, North Carolina!



Still trying to figure out packaging, but hopefully these finches will be safe in the long journey across the continent. <3!
